Videos that Inspire

I love this video.  Why? Because inside each and every child AND each and every adult, there is something unique, some talent or skill they have that will bring them joy, meaning and purpose.  And this will most likely benefit our society and our people.  I think it is our job as teachers and adults in this society to help children find this unique talent they have and help them pursue it.  What better gift to give a child?  I also think it is the job of leaders in the world of education to help teachers find this unique talent they have.  I truly believe that every single teacher is a leader in some aspect. There is something unique they have to off their children, their colleagues and their district that will benefit others as well as themselves.  It is the job of administrators to find this talent in their teachers and help them pursue it.  It’s simply beautiful to me.

Leadership is tough.  I think one of the toughest parts is that you have to constantly hold yourself to a high standard.  Part of this high standard is maintaining a continuously positive attitude.  This means that sometimes when you have doubt or are becoming frustrated with things, sometimes you have to keep that negativity inside.  Why?  Because a negative attitude is just as contagious as a positive one. I would argue it’s even more contagious; it’s easier for many to be negative than positive.  Does this mean you don’t have high expectations? Absolutely not.  Does this mean you don’t approach things with a realist attitude?  Absolutely not.  Does this mean you ignore the improvements that need to be made? Absolutely not.  It means you’re a positive, productive problem-solver, particularly when you’re in the “public” view.  It’s a tough job, being a leader.  But they are so important.  The great thing about this is that inside each and every one of us is the potential to be a leader in some way; we just need to choose whether we’re willing to step it up a notch or not.

  1. I completely agree with you on so many levels. Attitude is everything and it is easy to positive and easy to be negative. I love this coach video, thanks for sharing. Had many chills during that. As a coach and teacher all I want to do is inspire them to push themselves to get better so that really hit home for me.

    • I would contend, though, it’s much harder to be negative. It takes so much more energy. And, unfortunately, it drains the energy out of people around you. It’s amazing the impact negative adults can have on one another and not even realize it. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I love it, too. Yes, inspiring others to be better than they were yesterday is what life is about! Thanks for checking out my blog and commenting.
